How are fault messages to be interpreted?

Fault messages are an extended form of determining the current status of the system or individual assemblies. Fault messages are structured according to a standardised concept and contain all the information needed to quickly identify the source of the fault. They can be displayed and acknowledged on PLC HMIs or all parts of the ZLS software (control station, client).

Example fault message:
=AP1+MTP-52B2 / 562092 - End position Error: Working position not reached

The fault message consists of three information parts:

  1. BMK (equipment identification) of the triggering sensor / the triggering module
  2. ErrorCode, which describes the error
  3. ErrorCode, related plain text in German or English

The BMKcan be used to quickly determine the affected sensor in the circuit diagram. In the above example:

  • Sub-project AP1 (Workplace 1)
  • Sub-Sub-projectMTP (Mounting plate)
  • Page 52
  • Sensor 2

The message text (or the ErrorCode)provides more information about the specific cause. In this example, the working position of a cylinder could not be reached.
